Dirty Pool

I have heard enough about dirty swimming pools. It is time for the media to move on to another subject, especially Quebecor Media that got this story started(they paid for the study).

Most public pools in the Montreal area seem to be a giant bacteria and microbe soup, some of them are incredibly bad it seems. People are now questioning the study and how it was done, when the samples were collected, etc. The study may have flaws but is probably right I believe.

I have been to the pool  at Laurier Park a few times in the past few years, and I think that the place is quite dirty. The mens washroom is quite messy and no one really seems to be showering before going into the water.

One of the articles I read was blaming the staff. The article was questioning how the staff is trained to check the PH and chlorine levels. It could be that they are doing a bad job at it. Like many city employees they are not taking the job seriously I believe, and they seem to have no supervision.

Everyone should do their part to have some clean pools next summer. The city and its staff definitely need to get their act together. As for the users, help keep the place clean and wash before going into the pools.
