Dumping the Gazette

After many years of being a loyal reader, I have decided to cancel my subscription to the Montreal Gazette. I have been reflecting on it for some time now, and finally came to a decision on it.

The paper just seems to lack real news these days. I take as an example the Saturday edition, which is the *big* edition and just seems to lack any real information lately, just alot of advertising. The paper also seems to have stopped doing any real investigative journalism and to no longer take real opinions on issues. Many of these changes reflect the acquistion of the paper by the  CanWest Global Communications group a few years back.

I have decided to subscribe to Le Devoir instead starting today. It is the last independent paper in Montreal since all the others are part of some huge media group.

The website for Le Devoir is below.
