Joint Force What

I am as happy as the next guy that the Canadian hostages are free, but what are we doing with soldiers in Iraq. I just noticed this on the National Post web site(

As far as I knew, Canada was not in Iraq, I guess we are. Apparently according to the article the JTF2 (Joint Task Force 2) were involved in the operation. When did we get involved in Iraq is my question ? Why is our government keeping us in the dark about this ? How many soldiers are part of this task force ? How long have they been in Iraq ? That is what I would like to know.

It seems that they are not just soldiers either.  The British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw in the article says "The rescue was conducted by a British-led team that included representatives from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and "other agencies from Canada" that "did a terrific job." When did RCMP start partaking in miltary operations in a war zone. Mounties are now soldiers it seems.

Something is not right here, when we(as Canadians) have soldiers and policemen taking part in military operations, and no one seems to know. I am sure that if reporters asked the question, the answer would be it is national security. How many other things are kept from us for national security.
